A power cable is an electrical cable, an assembly of one or more electrical conductors, usually held together with an overall sheath. The assembly is used for transmission of electrical power. Power cables may be installed as permanent wiring within buildings, buried in the ground, run overhead, or exposed. Different cables will require different sized cable trenches – the higher the cable voltage, the bigger the cable and therefore the bigger the cable trench required.
This includes complete design, engineering, assembling, testing at manufacturer’s works, substation building, complete erection, testing, commissioning and putting into successful commercial operation of Air Insulating Substaion and Gas Insulating Substation along with supply and transportation of all equipment and accessories, steel structures, all structural work, civil and architectural work.
Switchyard is the inter connector between generation and transmission, and same voltage is mentained in switchyard, Substation is the inter connector between transmission and distribution systems, and various voltage levels are mentained in substation.
Power Cable Fault Location
We understand the client’s requirements in emergency during cable faults and accordingly provide them with services of localizing and rectifying of cable faults using Thumper (Cable Fault Locator) and TDR (CRO) method. This test shall be carried out between conductors or between conductor and screen armour. Identifying the type of fault; pre-location - determining the distance to the fault; route tracing - determining the route of the cable; pinpointing - determining the exact position of the fault; cable identification - determining which of several cables is faulty.
We are dealing with Cable Hi-Pot, Cable Outer Sheath Testing using DC HiPot Kit and underground cable route tracing using cable route tracer.
There are two main reasons for testing power cables: to determine the condition of the cable and to locate a fault on the cable. The objective of testing the cable condition is typically to check the quality of cable before installing it, or to detect and remedy potential defects in the cable. When testing a cable for potential defects, a common technique is to generate flashovers at the sites of the defects, which can then be located using the standard fault location techniques using cable fault locator .
